Starfleet Academy

 [ Main - Personnel - Decks - Story - Other ]

Mission Summaries:

Stardate 2386.03.05 - 2386.03.06

The day was dark, the sun could barely shine through the thick clouds. The tention was felt when Admiral Tropan handed in his resignation, nobody liked to see him go.... A loud thunder could be heard throughout the academy. His days were over....

The next day the sun showed her beautiful golden shine again as the newly promoted Admiral Prex walked into the main Academy building. His friends congratulated him and he was ready for the job at hand.

To be or not to be in Starfleet.. that is not a question... that is a way of life...

Stardate 2386.03.09 - 2386.09.11

Admiral Jorin Prex did not stay in his position as Academy Commander very long. He designed a new Academy setup but had no time to carry it out.

On 2386.3.9 Prex resigned his position to the more experienced Admiral Saskia Vix. Six glorious months she was in charge of the holodeck-missions.

Hurray for Admiral Vix!

Stardate 2386.09.11 - 2387.08.29

Some time later, Admiral Vix was replaced by Admiral Val Karna. This man continued the work of Academy Commandant, and did a great job. He welcomed countless new cadets to the Academy, and saw a lot of them walk out as an Ensign.

But now, Admiral Val Karna decided to walk out of the academy himself. After almost a year, a new face appeared in the AcadCM's office: Admiral Robert Baine.

Thanks to Admiral Karna, and Welcome to Admiral Baine!

Stardate 2387.08.29 - 2388.07.15

Was it only a year? It seemed so much more. While it was a sunny day outside in San Francisco, Admiral Robert Baine's mood was gloomy. Yes, he had chosen to step down, but... it wasn't easy. All those Cadets he had seen 'growing up', all the problems he had helped out with, all the people he had talked to... yes, there were parts of this job he would certainly miss.

But it was all over now. A new life lay ahead of him. And as he turned around, looking at his old office one more time, he knew that the woman who was sitting there now -Admiral Elizabeth Anyanka- would fill the role as Academy Commandant with dignity and pride.

Goodbye Admiral Robert Baine. There had been difficult times, as well as many joys. But Baine's life did not end when his job did. He would step out of the shadows again, someday. That, Robert knew for sure. For now though, he would welcome the change of pace. He'd make some time for his wife again. And once he was tired of resting, he would find another job. Something concerning science. And people.

He would miss this office, this Academy, this place, this feeling. But it was for the best. With his head held high, Admiral Robert Baine, ex-AcadCM, walked out of the Academy. . . onwards to his new life.

Stardate 2388.07.15 - 2389.05.30

Rear Admiral Elizabeth Anyanka received a message from Starfleet Command, offering her a new promotion to full Admiral and also to head up a task force fleet out on the far reaches of Federation space.

If she accepted the job it would take her away from the Academy and away from Earth, it was at this decision she declined the offer refusing a promotion to remain on Earth. However after almost a year of servitude looking after the cadets and making sure they at least made it through the first stage of the Academy but alas she would never see them graduate.

Her husband had taken ill with a mysterious ailment and she felt obligated and a duty to go too his bedside to nurse him back to health the best she could, thus she once again resigned her commission to the Academy to leave it in the care of the new Academy Commandant.

Stardate 2389.06.01

Charlie placed the picture of Alice and the boys on the edge of his desk, where it had always rested. ~Boys,~ he thought. Hardly boys any more. Peter was the CSO on a Galaxy-class ship, and James was doing graduate studies at the Vulcan Science Academy. He glanced up at the picture of Joan, dead all these years, but standing guard from the bookshelf. She'd have been very proud of him.

'We'll stay on the campus, of course,' Alice had said, 'in the Commandant's quarters.' Without a second thought she had packed up some of their favorite things for the move. None of this beaming home to Virginia every evening for her Charlie. Here, she could sneak him away for lunch on a whim, and the Chinese food was better in San Francisco.

Part of him didn't really want to be here. He'd served in Starfleet, did a stint at the Daystrom Institute, and was enjoying a quiet retirement, thank you very much. He'd accepted the job without even asking Alice. Duty calls.

It was on the bicycle ride from the shuttle hangar that he'd finally decided he'd done the right thing. Seeing the cadets in their crisp, fresh uniforms coming in and out of the libraries and labs made him feel young again. Their energy and enthusiasm were infectious. From his office window he could see a class marching toward the athletic fields.

This was going to be fun.
