Nei'rrh
Nei'rrh are small Romulan birds, similar in size and flight characteristics to the Terran hummingbirds with a poison-secreting spur on the upper mandible of the beak. Also an insult, referring to a person annoying or dangerous out of all proportion to their size, status, or (usually) worth. (ST #35: The Romulan Way by Diane Duane and Peter Morwood)

neural parasites
The neural parasites came to Deneva 8 months ago prior to Stardate 3287.2 and infected the population there. The parasites came on a vessel from the planet Ingraham B. The parasites made the people bring the ship to Deneva. They use pain to control the people they inhabit. They forced them to build ships for them. When the parasites are near, a peculiar buzzing sound can be heard. The parasites could not destroyed by phasers. The parasites do not even register on a tricorder. They leave a puncture wound on the back. Pieces of living tissue become entwined throughout the victims nervous system. When the creature attacks, it leaves a stinger, much like a bee, and it takes over the victim very rapidly. The entwining is far, far too involved for conventional surgery to remove. Even when they were stunned, victims nervous systems gave a very high reading, as though even in their unconscious state, they were being violently stimulated. Normally, in a stunned individual, the nervous system should show just routine autonomic activity. Victims were in extreme pain and had a high tolerance for tranquilizers. They need people to be their arms and legs. It is a one-celled creature that resembles a huge individual brain cell. It may be one cell of a larger organism, and incredibly huge organism. Although it is not physically connected to the other cells, it is still part of the whole creature. The parasites were immune to varying radiation, and intense heat, even as great as 9,000 degrees. The parasites are sensitive to light. 210 ultraviolet satellites were deployed 72 miles above the planet surface, burning with such intensity that even someone in a closed, darkened area would be affected. One million candles per square inch were necessary to kill the parasites. (TOS: Operation -- Annihilate!)

Nexian tapeworm
A Nexian tapeworm attaches itself to the lower intestinal tract and absorbs nutrients. Phlox used one for weight loss. He claimed it was perfectly harmless, and could be removed with a V-probe. (ENT: The Council)
