Andorians
Playable: Yes

(| Physiology |)
Andorians have blue skin, white hair, and antennae.
(| History |)
Andoria, or Andor is located in the Alpha Quadrant, and is near Vulcan, Tellar, Earth, and Alpha Centauri. Andoria and Vulcan are neighboring systems. Andorians were one of the 5 founding members of the United Federation of Planets. Andoria is governed by an Imperial Council.

The Andorians and Vulcans have been in conflict since the 21st century. In the 2050s, the Andorians terraformed and colonized a Class-D planet not much bigger than the Earth's moon. The Andorians called this planet Weytahn, but it is known to the Vulcans as Paan Mokar. The planet has a mutagenic pathogen which does not effect Vulcan or Andorian physiology, however, human immune systems need to be bombarded with analyeptic radiation to protect them on the surface.

The planet is in a strategic location near Vulcan space, and the Vulcans concluded that the Andorians were setting up a military base. The Andorians refused to let the Vulcan High Council inspect the colony, so the Vulcans annexed the planet to protect their territory, and removed the colonists by force. The two races signed a Terratorial Compromise, which was 1200 pages long, and took eight years to work out. A surveillence satellite was put into orbit to monitor the agreement.

The Vulcans and Andorians signed a treaty, the Tau Ceti Accords, to eliminate tensions, which the Vulcans broke by spying on them. The Andorians believed the Vulcans were bent on conquest. The Andorians also broke the Accords by having a presence on the planet Coridan. The Andorians assisted Coridan rebels.

The Andorians destroyed the monastery of P'Jem, which concealed the Vulcan spying operation. They allowed the monks 3 hours to evacuate. They also monitored Vulcan transmissions and ship deployments since the discovery of the listening post at P'Jem.

In 2152, Shran, a regimental commander in the Andorian Imperial Guard, landed a force on Weytahn, which had been deserted for a century, and occupied the old Andorian settlement. The Vulcans tried to enforce the treaty of 2097, and managed to regain control of half of the settlement, but three Vulcans were taken hostage. The Vulcans requested a cease fire, and Shran agreed, on the condition that Jonathan Archer of Earth be present as a mediator. Archer suceeded in bringing both sides to the table so a cease fire could be negotiated. Diplomatic talks later continued on Andoria.
(| Society |)
Andorians are known for the suspicious and volitile nature. They are a militaristic society.

Andorian marriages are between groups of four people, not couples, as in most cultures.

The Andorian military is called the Andorian Imperial Guard.
(| Notes |)
Andorian Silk is prized for it's softness, and is a fine fabric for suits. Andorian jewelry is very collectible.

Chirurgeon Ghee P'trell, an Andorian, was nominated for the Carrington Award in 2371.

Andorian renegades, in the Triangular system, it is said once embarrassed a Starfleet Admiral's supposed search for them when they hid their ship by dismantling it.

The Andorians were the subject of some kind of gender-swapping joke by Quark that Morn was slow to catch; the punchline was "and the Andorian says, 'Your brother? I thought it was your wife!'"

The Zabathu is a horse-like animal from Andoria, which is often ridden. Andorian Amoebae reproduce by means of symbiogenesis.

The Andorian Academy of Art is an Andorian Academic institution dedicated to the study of Art.
(| New Info |)
Andorians are known for their suspicious and volatile nature. In the 22nd century, the Andorians and Vulcans were in conflict. They signed a treaty to eliminate tensions. The Vulcans broke the treaty by spying on the Andorians. Andorian factions believe the Vulcans are bent on conquest. The Andorians did not have transporter technology as of 2151. Pinkskin is a derogatory term Andorians sometimes use when referring to Humans. (ENT: The Andorian incident)

The Andorians destroyed the Vulcan monastery of P'Jem, which hid a surveillance site that was discovered with the aid of Captain Archer. Andorians monitored Vulcan transmissions and ship deployments since the discovery of the listening post at P'Jem. In the mid-22nd century, the Andorians supported the Coridan rebels even though an Andorian presence on Coridan is a violation of the Tau Ceti Accords. (ENT: Shadows of P'Jem)

Andorian sensors were more sophisticated than Earth's in the 22nd century. Andorians have blue blood. A few decades prior to 2153, border skirmishes between the Vulcans and Andorians were common. The Vulcans would violate the Andorians territory (or so Shran claimed) and the Andorians would retaliate. Andorians had forcefield technology by 2153. The Andorians tried to take the prototype Xindi weapon, after helping the Enterprise NX-01. Shran was ordered to retrieve the weapon by any means necessary. Enterprise had the activation codes, and detonated it to prevent the Andorians from taking it. (ENT: Proving Ground)

The Andorians use a machine that employs a neuro-synaptic field to lower a Vulcan's emotional threshold. It is used to extract information. Vulcans broken by the device are never the same again. It can permanently damage their emotion-suppression system. (ENT: Kir'Shara)

Andorian women are far more aggressive than Human females. When Lieutenant Talas made a romantic overture towards Shran, he had to decide whether to charge her with assaulting a superior, or mate with her. As of 2154, Tellarites and Andorians had been feuding for over a century. Andorian women are permitted one final conquest before their wedding.. or so claimed Talas when she tried to distract a guard on Enterprise. (ENT: Babel One)

Andorians are susceptible to phase-pulse infection. When an Andorian Guardsman dies far from home, his companions carry a part of him back to the ice of Andoria, usually a vial of his or her blood. The Ushaan is a traditional duel to the death that is practiced by the Andorians. The combatants use a weapon called a Ushaan-Tor. After Talas was killed by Naarg, Shran challenged him to the Ushaan. Code of the Ushaan is the rules of the combat. There are 12,000 amendments to this honor code. Either combatant can postpone a duel indefinitely if there are no children to continue his clan. The rule only applies if he is married. The Right of Substitution is an Ushaan rule that allows someone else to take the place of the challenged individual. Captain Archer took Naarg's place. The combatants' left arms and hands are armored and tied together with a metal cord. The Ushaan is settled when one fighter is rendered defenseless. Andorian metabolism is higher than Humans. As a result, they can be exhausted faster. Andorian antennae take nine months to grow back, if left untreated. With electrical stimulation and brisk cranial massage, they'll grow back in half the time. Losing an antenna can cause Andorians to lose their balance, and become slightly disoriented. They begin to compensate for the loss in a day or two. (ENT: United)

The Andorians and Tellarites formed an alliance as a result of the attacks by the Romulan drone, working together for the first time in history. (ENT: The Aenar)

Andorian Imperial Guard was the Andorian military in the 22nd century. (The Andorian Incident) When Andorian Commanders lose their ship, they usually aren't rewarded with another one. (ENT: The Aenar)
