Humans are native to the Class-M planet Earth in the Sol System, sector 001, and are one of the Founding members of the Federation. Many species view Earth History in different ways. Vulcan Historians describe first contact with a savagely illogical race, the Ferengi talk about Wall Street as if it were holy ground, and the Bolians express dismay at the low quality of Human plumbing.
The Millennium Gate was constructed at the dawn of the new Millennium. Located in Portage Creek, Indiana, the gate can be seen from space. It is 3.2 km at the base, and 1 km in height. The surface of the gate is covered with highly reflective solar panels. It was a self-contained eycosystem, and became a model for the first colony on Mars.
The Gaullists were a dominant political party in the French National Assembly prior to the Neo-Trotskyists of the 2020's.
In the early 21st century, Sanctuary Districts were created in many American cities to house the homeless, unemployed, and the mentally ill. Treatment in the Districts was inhumane. In early September 2024, several government employees in the San Francisco Sanctuary District were taken hostage during what became known as the Bell Riots. Hundreds of protestors were killed when the government quelled the disturbance, but thanks to Gabriel Bell, no hostages were harmed. Bell was killed protecting the hostages, and his sacrifice triggered reform and the closing of the Sanctuary Districts. Residents of the Sanctuary Districts that were mentally ill were called 'dim'. History does not record that Bell was actually killed shortly before the riots, and that Benjamin Sisko, who had inadvertently caused Bell's death following a transporter accident that transported him and several crewmembers back in time, assumed his identity so that history could follow it's proper course.
In the Early 21st century, the first successful manned mission to Saturn was completed. The mission was commanded by Colonel Shaun Geoffrey Christopher.
In 2053, World War III began. One of the participants was the Eastern Coalition, or ECON, a loose alliance of Eastern powers. 600 million people were killed in the nuclear war that destroyed most major cities and eliminated national governments. Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas was in operation as of 2053. For 2 months following the start of WWIII, it was used as the operational command center for Colonel Amber's Regimental Volunteers. It was the site of the final battle of the Siege of Las Vegas.
For a decade following the war, much of the populace reverted to barbarism. The postatomic horror began to ease by 2063.
Earth joined the interstellar community when Zefram Cochrane invented warp drive in 2063. The historic first flight of his ship, the Phoenix, was detected by a Vulcan vessel, which then made first contact with humanity on April 5, 2063. This first contact spawned a new age of peace and progress for Earth.
Unknown to most, This first contact was nearly thwarted by a race known as the Borg, who came back in time to prevent the first warp drive test. They were defeated by Humans from the future.
Over the next Ninety years, the Vulcans worked closely with Humans, and discouraged them from interstellar travel believing that they were not ready, which many Humans later resented.
The European Hegemony was a loose political alliance on Earth in the 22nd century. It was considered to be among the beginnings of a world government on Earth.
Earth's current government, United Earth, was founded in 2113.
In 2152, the remains of two drones and the Borg vessel that had tried to prevent first contact nearly a century ago were discovered in the Artic Circle. The drones revived, and after assimilating the Earth scientists, escaped Earth in a modified transport. They were stopped by the Enterprise NX-01, but not before the Borg sent a message to coordinates deep in the Delta Quadrant. The message would take about 200 years to be received.
In 2153, Earth was attacked by the Xindi. The Xindi sent a probe which cut a swath 4,000 miles long, that stratched from Florida to Venezuela. Initial casualty reports indicated a million had been killed, but the final count was over seven million. A Vulcan transport located the probe in central Asia, and brought it to Starfleet Headquarters. There was a pilot who was killed on impact.
The Suliban's contact from the future, told Captain Jonathan Archer that the Xindi were responsible for the attack, and that the Xindi sent the probe because they learned that their world would be destroyed by Humans in 400 years. They were told this by people from the future. The probe was only a test. The Xindi were building a more powerful weapon, and when they completed it, they planned use it to destroy Earth. The man from the future warned Archer, because he claimed the Xindi would contaminate the timeline.

DY-100 vessels were interplanetary space vehicles built in the late 20th century. They had nuclear powered engings and were equipped with suspended-animation facilities for long voyages. By 2018, these vessels were replaced with DY-500 vessels, which had much more advanced propulsion systems.

Present day Earth is a virtual paradise, with no poverty, crime, or war.
Starfleet Command and Starfleet Academy are located in San Francisco. The Federation Council, and the Federation President's Office, are located in Paris. There is a Federation Penal Settlement in New Zealand.
The Trill Embassy on Earth is located in Nagano, Japan. It was established in the 23rd century, before the Trill joined the Federation.
The Division of Planetary Operations is a branch of Starfleet that deals with Earth-based functions and operations. It is located in Lisbon, Portugal. Central Bureau of Penology is an institution for the rehabilitation of criminals that is located in Stockholm.
Earth Station McKinley is a starfleet shipbuilding and repair facility in Earth orbit. It is a large orbital platform that supports several large articulated work arms, designed to service even the largest starships.
Earth Station Bobruisk is a transport facility located in Europe. People can transport from here to vessels or stations in orbit of Earth.
Yosemite National Park is home to El Capitan, a monolithic mountain considered to be among Earth's greatest challanges for rock climbers.
Institute of Living is a psychiatric institute located in Hartford, Connecticut on Washington Steet in the Whitehall Building. The building is an historical building. It has no turbolifts and doors with real knobs.
Chez Sandrine is Wharf-side bistro located in Marseilles, France. Owned by a woman named Sandrine, it has been in her family for over 600 years. It features a billards table, and was frequented by Tom Paris, who created a holodeck program of it.
Jackson Square and Armstrong Park are located in New Orleans on Earth. There are sometimes musical performances in Armstrong Park.

The credit chip was a type of currency used in the early 21st century in the United States.
In the 20th century, Joe DiMaggio set a record of scoring hits in 56 consecutive baseball games. In 2026, this record was broken by Buck Bokai, a short stop for the London Kings. The game died shortly after 2042, but was still played in some form until 2071. It has developed a small revival in the last 24th century.
"There's a warm wind blowing in from Minicoy." is an Old Earth saying which efers to a famous ambassafor from Minicoy who used to bluster, exaggerate and dissemble to get what he wanted. He was a bag of hot air, and everyone recognized him for what he was. |

The Eugenics War was an attempt to control the race thorough selective breeding, by a group of ambitious scientists. It occurred in the 1990s and was Earth's last world war. In 1993, a group of these young supermen seized power simultaneously in over 40 nations. They were aggressive, arrogant, and began to battle among themselves. Khan Noonien Singh claimed that one man would have ruled eventually, as Rome under Caesar, and the Earth would be united. There were some 80 or 90 of them unaccounted for when they were finally defeated. That fact was not in the history texts. (TOS: Space Seed)
Some claim humanity rose up against the Augments. Others say the Augments began fighting among themselves. Whoever started it, the war devastated Earth. The official death toll of the Eugenics war was 30 million. Some historians say it was closer to 35 million. Afterwards, Earth banned genetic engineering. (ENT: Cold Station 12)
